One Very Odd Teacher by Robbie Yates (Book Review)

Robbie Yates is an extraordinarily talented children’s author. His writing style and sense of humour can hook anybody who reads his work. Check my review of Robbie Yate’s previous book Daniel Daniels and the World’s Worst Zoo which was posted on Snapshot few months back. One Very Odd Teacher is recommended for kids around 8-11 years of age.

Book Blurb:

The humming noise got louder. Adam willed himself to focus. He had to finish his math test.

Suddenly, the noise became unbearable. He glanced up.
Mrs Murphy was inches away, leaning over another kid’s desk.

Was the noise coming from her?

Every child remembers a teacher who was a little bizarre, prickly or ill-tempered. Some teachers, though, are very odd indeed, and warrant some closer attention..

This quirky chapter book will thrill kids who are adventurous, brave, and a little bit cheeky!

Book Review of One Very Odd Teacher by Robbie Yates

My Review

This book is surely going to hit the kids’ market. It is a kind of children’s detective thriller. Adam, the protagonist of the story is a very curious boy. When he observes something odd in his teacher’s behaviour, he could not let it go. He investigates the reason behind her odd behaviour. If you have a curious child around you, just like Adam, this is the best book you can gift him/her for this Christmas !

It is a short and enjoyable read. Characters are framed very cleverly. Jennifer is that sweet friend who helps Adam in all his adventurous investigation. Mrs Walton is also a cool character, even though she has limited role to play.

While the whole set up looks so amazing, there are certain areas which I think lacked logic.

  • 10 year old kids declare themselves as 15 years of age during the Trooco Factory visit and surprisingly no one in the factory finds it out. Now come on, it is not 30 and 35 where we cannot figure out ages by just looking at a person. Kids aged 10 years and 15 years have a lot difference in physical appearance.
  • Adam and Jennifer were too intelligent sometimes for their age.
  • Who appointed Mrs. Murphy in the school is still a question mark!

But the book was very interesting that I ignored these flaws and simply enjoyed it like a small kid.

My Rating

⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

I recommend One Very Odd Teacher to everyone, no matter you are an Adult or a kid.
